Three Plans to Enjoy the Summer in Gualeguaychú, Entre Ríos

Entre Ríos has a Master’s in the heat season and offers very tempting plans for a getaway.

Twenty-five kilometres from the border with Uruguay lies a green oasis with many suggestions to make the best of Latin American summer. Welcome to Gualeguaychú, the third most populated city in the province of Entre Ríos. This city has a distinctive vibe, full of joy and energy, mainly since it is home to one of the world’s most amazing carnivals —which proudly carries the same name as the city. The Gualeguaychú Carnival has its own signature, and costumes, music, dance, and traditions celebrate the best of local culture.

As a good summer destination, it’s packed with offers for tourists willing to absorb the Entre Ríos magic. So, how about the coolest getaway to this great place?

1. Gualeguaychú Carnival

The Carnival of the country. Nothing can go wrong in the Argentinian party paradise with such an introduction, right? An open-air show is put on in this destination, making even the shiest dance. For anyone looking for dance and music, this show, which combines both ingredients, is a must. Every Saturday during January and February, five troupes come on stage to compete in a unique spectacle for all your senses. Bright colours, eccentric dances, masks, feathers, and costumes are the main figures of days in which you’ll only have to vibe with the music and feel the Latin rhythms bone-deep. The iconic carriages walk in file down the city while dancers embellish the set, conveying joy to the audience.

The celebration (which started at the end of the 19th century but took off in 1977 with the construction of the corsódromo) starts in January and finds its peak in February, during several public holidays. These days, tourists invade Gualeguaychú’s streets, which are bursting with energy and joy, foreseeing what’s about to happen: an unprecedented show.

The Carnival 2022 tickets go from ARS 1,500, and a complete COVID-19 vaccination certificate is requested to get in the corsódromo

2. Beaches and Beach Resorts

Summer is a synonym of sand and water, and Entre Ríos knows much about that. Actually, the name reflects it: Entre Ríos means between rivers. So, if there’s something this city doesn’t lack is crystal-clear water mirrors to cool down your body and enjoy the summer.

Wide and white beaches, with waters from the rivers Uruguay and Gualeguaychú. The goal is always the same: get warmed up with the beams of sun, drink some mates with your friends, and soak your feet in the water. Which are the best places to do it? The Balneario Ñandubaysal, with trees typical of Entre Ríos riverbanks, grass umbrellas, and gently sloping beaches. The Solar del Este offers 200 metres of beach with live shows and campsites to wrap up the experience. The Balneario Norte is on the riverbank of the Gualeguaychú river, and it has options to rent boats and get immersed into the waters. All options are perfect in Entre Ríos.

3. Termas de Gualeguaychú

A hot spring complex a few minutes away from the city centre is the ideal alternative for relaxing and calm holidays. The 20-hectare venue has a lot of vegetation, swimming pools at 34 °C and 40 °C degrees and at ambient temperature, and beauty and health services to complete the experience. The spa is prepared to give guests a luxurious moment with massages, beauty care masks, and cosmetology.

There are also options to sleep in the hotel, dorms, and bungalows, combining perfectly with the restaurant alternatives and stores the venue offers. If your plan includes children, then the water park open in summer is the ideal solution for leisure and fun at the same time.
