Pachamama Festival

A tribute to Mother Earth or Pachamama. This is the oldest celebration of Tucumán province and one of the major festivities of the country with religious and festive heritage. This celebration is immersed in an indigenous community from the Calchaquí Valley. The whole people and the peoples from surrounding areas live the celebration of the carnival and feel the contagious joy, even for those beyond geographic boundaries. This celebration normally lasts for a week, and at the end, a woman is chosen among the eldest of the area to take on the role of Pachamama.
