Easier access for Indian tourists to visit Argentina

28 August 2025

Visa-free entry has been authorised for stays of up to 90 days, in an initiative aimed at boosting inbound tourism.

Argentina is becoming increasingly attractive to international travellers and is making strong inroads in Asian markets. In this context, the national government has authorised Indian citizens holding an ordinary passport to enter the country as tourists for up to 90 days without the need to apply for a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorisation (AVE), provided they hold a valid United States visa.

The measure seeks to promote inbound tourism and increase the arrival of international visitors in a market with great potential. During 2024, 7,588 Indian travellers visited the country, representing an increase of almost 39% compared to 2023. This initiative, together with improvements in air connectivity currently underway, is expected to further boost travel to Argentina.

It should be noted that those entering under this scheme may not change their migratory status, although they may request a single extension for the same period, subject to evaluation by the National Directorate of Migration.

Argentina, unique experiences for the Indian traveller

As a tourist destination, Argentina offers an unrivalled diversity, perfectly suited to the profile of the Indian traveller, who often seeks authentic gastronomic experiences, cultural activities, and lively nightlife. From Buenos Aires’ culinary richness and vibrant urban life to some of the world’s most extraordinary natural landscapes, the country caters to every style of travel.

Among the preferred destinations for Indian visitors are Buenos Aires, with its blend of tradition and modernity, tango, and an internationally acclaimed gastronomic scene; Iguazú, with its majestic waterfalls, one of the planet’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders; and Patagonia, combining adventure and nature in unforgettable settings such as Ushuaia, gateway to Antarctica; El Calafate and its imposing Perito Moreno Glacier; or the mountain range with Bariloche, Villa La Angostura, and San Martín de los Andes, offering year-round enjoyment.

With its cultural, scenic, and gastronomic appeal, Argentina stands out as an attractive and versatile destination for the Indian traveller seeking unforgettable moments during their stay. This initiative – which complements the measure introduced earlier this year for China – strengthens the country’s strategy of diversifying markets and consolidates its position as a competitive destination for Asian tourists.
