New Quad Chairlift for Cerro Martial
The southernmost urban mountain resort on the planet, located in Ushuaia, Tierra del Fuego, offers ski and snowboard slopes for all levels, lessons, sports schools, snowshoeing circuits, and sledding runs, as well as breathtaking views of the End of the World landscapes.
Cerro Martial, the world's southernmost urban ski resort, has inaugurated a new quad chairlift that has already become one of the main attractions of the winter season.
The new infrastructure features 126 chairs, a route extending over 1,400 meters, a transport capacity of up to 1,450 people per hour, and is equipped with state-of-the-art technology developed by the Swiss firm Bartholet.
The launch of the brand-new chairlift marks a new chapter for this traditional mountain resort, renowned for its privileged views over Ushuaia and the landscapes of the so-called End of the World at the start of Argentina's peak snow season.
Beyond the snow season, the resort aims to establish itself as an active year-round destination with sports, recreational, and culinary offerings, also catering to those looking to enjoy the snow with their families.
Torchlight Descent
Additionally, Cerro Martial stands out for its traditional Torchlight Descent (Bajada con Antorchas), one of the most anticipated moments of winter. In commemoration of Mountaineer's Day and the Virgin of the Snows, Cerro Martial lights up as local skiers and snowboarders descend the Martial Glacier, in a celebration that brings together residents, visitors, and mountain enthusiasts.
