Grandmaster Faustino Oro Continues His Exhibition Tour in Rosario
Following his successful stops in Tigre and Mar del Plata, the young Argentine chess prodigy will hold new simultaneous exhibition matches. The tour is sponsored by Visit Argentina to promote the country's tourism image worldwide.
Faustino Oro, the chess player capturing international attention, will arrive tomorrow in Rosario to continue his exhibition tour of simultaneous games. The event is organized by the National Secretariat of Tourism, Environment, and Sports, and sanctioned by the Argentine Chess Federation.
The young prodigy's talent is strongly backed by Visit Argentina, the official international tourism promotion brand created by INPROTUR. This strategic partnership aims to support his prestigious career, whose massive global impact across media and social platforms has become a key tool for positioning the country abroad, attracting foreign visitors, and showcasing Argentina's top attractions.
“Faustino’s career trajectory is extraordinary on a global scale, and his performance in the chess world is a source of pride for all Argentines,” said Daniel Scioli, Secretary of Tourism, Environment, and Sports, and President of INPROTUR.
During the tour's opening leg, hosted at the impressive Tigre Art Museum, Faustino delivered a dominant performance: he faced 22 under-16 students from the Municipal Chess School along with three guests from the Federation, winning every single game.
To grasp the scale of his athletic achievement, one need only look at his title. Oro holds the rank of Grandmaster (GM), the highest title a player can attain, awarded by the International Chess Federation (FIDE). It is an exclusive group: fewer than 2,000 people worldwide hold this lifelong title. Faustino, who only took up chess in 2020, reached this milestone at just 12 years old, establishing himself as Argentina's youngest GM ever and the second-youngest in world history.
