When is Autumn in Argentina
Both in Tierra del Fuego and throughout the Argentine territory, autumn is from March 21 to June 20, and it is the time when the province's forests are dressed in an impressive range of colors. The golden, red, and orange tones of the leaves create breathtaking landscapes.
How to Get to Tierra del Fuego
From Buenos Aires, there are daily and direct flights to Río Grande and Ushuaia - the provincial capital, known as the City at the End of the World - lasting more than 3 hours. There are also direct connections to Ushuaia from the City of Córdoba (capital of the homonymous province), Trelew (province of Chubut), and El Calafate (province of Santa Cruz).
If you are a true adventurer, you can travel by car from any point in the country, take National Route 3 - which starts in Buenos Aires - to the border post with Chile called Integración Austral. Wait... to reach Tierra del Fuego by land from Argentina, is it necessary to pass through Chile? Yes, it's the only way.
After crossing the border into Chilean territory, drive to Punta Delgada on National Routes 255 and 257. Near the town, you'll find the Primeira Angostura ferry terminal, where you take a ferry to cross the famous Strait of Magellan.
After 30 minutes, the boat lands at Bahía Azul, on the north side of the Grande Island of Tierra del Fuego, on the Chilean side. From there, it's almost 150 kilometers to the Argentine border post called San Sebastián. Back in Argentina, you rejoin National Route 3, which can take you all the way to Ushuaia and Bahía Lapataia, the very end.
