Bodega Matervini

Mendoza

Founded by Santiago Achával and Roberto Cipresso in 2008, Matervini Winery is the first Argentine winery to operate with 100% solar energy, standing out for its unique focus on Malbec: a journey through extreme terroirs, delivering pure and distinct expressions.

Located in Perdriel, Luján de Cuyo (Mendoza), Matervini was born with a guiding question: “What comes after Malbec?” The answer? “More Malbec,” reimagined through diverse soils and microclimates—from young alluvial areas to ancient calcareous and basaltic sites dating back 450 million years.

From its inception, the winery was designed to operate sustainably, powered entirely by solar energy, using passive thermal regulation, composting systems, and a vineyard-integrated waste cycle. It has become a benchmark in ecological winemaking in Argentina.

The visit begins in selected vineyards, explaining how each terroir influences the Malbec character, continues through a luminous, open-air winery, and concludes with a guided tasting of six unique Malbec expressions: Canota, Calcha, Piedras Viejas, 1938 Historic Vineyard, Imposibles, and Alteza, each telling its own story.

With a limited annual production (around 40,000 bottles), Matervini offers iconic wines that combine winemaking precision, vineyard rigor, and a storytelling approach that celebrates Mendoza and Salta’s geological richness.
