The Forclaz Windmill
By means of an old windmill, take a close look at the work and effort of the immigrants who populated this region.
In 1859, Swiss-born Jean Forclaz arrived in this lands and started to build a windmill. Do you know what his dream was? Grinding grains of wheat and corn at a speed never seen before. Thanks to his efforts, joined with those of many other locals, he managed to finish this project. But something did not turn out right: in order to work fully, the windmill needed strong winds, which were not found in this area. Then, Forclaz had to use the old system of a grist mill.
Would you like to learn about this history of perseverance, work, and sacrifice? Come to Molino Forclaz Provincial Museum.
