La Aripuca
Near Puerto Iguazú, visit a place expressing an age-old culture, and raising awareness of sustainability.
Do you know aripucas? They are small artisanal traps built with branches by the Guaraní people. Thanks to them, the natives can catch animals without hurting them, to release them if they are pregnant females or very young offspring, which are not suitable for consumption. At the La Aripuca tourist complex, find a giant replica of these traps, built with salvaged tree trunks, to convey an ecological message.
Did you know that none of the trunks used was cut for this purpose? They all belong to trees from protected, endangered species that suffered from excessive clearing or indiscriminate felling. Come to this 17-meter-high work of art that turns the destruction of a tree into a message to raise awareness of the value of natural resources, and promote their protection. Live this experience in the province of Misiones.
