21% VAT off for foreign tourists

Travelling around Argentina? There’s a whole country out there just waiting to be discovered. And now, you'll get this extra benefit on your accommodation bill.

What you’ll need:

A valid passport or ID proving your residence in a country outside of Argentina. You will also need to make your payment using a credit card issued abroad or via a bank transfer made from outside Argentina.

You can either book the services directly through the accommodation, or via any travel agency certified by Argentina’s Ministry of Tourism.

There is nothing you need to do to get the refund, which is processed immediately: the reimbursement is made directly and automatically at the very moment you pay for the services.

What it includes

The VAT on accommodation and breakfast, if breakfast is included in the price of accommodation.

Any other goods or services you buy will be billed separately and the 21% VAT off will not apply to them.

The benefit won’t be made if you cancel or do not use the service.

Who can give the refund?

Hotels, hostels, guesthouses, inns, motels, campsites, aparthotels and similar, which are registered as accommodation providers with Argentina’s tax authority (AFIP). Travel agencies are also included, as long as they are certified by the Ministry of Tourism and are registered to pay VAT.
