Calilegua National Park
Located in Jujuy’s southeast, on the eastern side of the Calilegua Hills, this shelter area covers 76.320 hectares with Yunga typical vegetation.
This park was created in 1.979 to preserve the flora and fauna at one of the environments of largest biodiversity in Argentina.
Fauna features amazing animals like yaguaretes, tapirs, river wolfs, bats, the red acutí, the tuco-tuco of the yungas, the taruca or the huemul of the north.
The bird fauna is composed by approximately 400 species. Some of the most remarkable are: the big toucan, the dusky - legged guan, the real jote, the giant batará and various species of hummingbirds and woodpeckers.
