Ushuaia
Known as the “Southernmost City of the World”, it is the capital of the province of Tierra del Fuego, Antártida and Islas del Atlántico Sur.Located by the Beagle Channel, it is surrounded by the Martial mountain range and Magellanic forests.It locates 3,200 km (1,988 mi) away from Buenos Aires, and it’s a one-of-a-kind place for hosting congresses and conventions.
SIGHTS
The tourist attractions include the End of the World Museum, the old prison of the city (museum), the historical End of the World Train -used by the prisoners to collect wood in the forest- and the typical houses of the region.
Visitors can access the Tierra del Fuego National Park, one of the most beautiful parks of the country, by train or by car.The park protects 63 hectares (155.68 acres) of the southernmost end of the Andes, home to a wide variety of wild fauna and flora.
Being so close to Antarctica, Ushuaia concentrates most maritime traffic to the White Continent. It can be accessed by means of a great number of international icebreakers and polar ships (some of them were scientific ships converted for tourist purposes).
There are different activities for adventure and sports enthusiasts.You can practice skiing and snowboarding at the Castor hill or at the Martial Glacier Mountain.For those who enjoy fishing, Tierra del Fuego offers ten Rivers, four lakes and three lagoons ideal to catch salmon. Over 600 km (373 mi) of coast allows for rainbow trouts, brook trouts and brown trouts fishing.
There are sailing tours along the bays, islets and fiords at the mythical Beagle Channel, where you will be able to admire the peculiar birds and marine creatures, for its proximity to Antarctica, among other activitiessuch as sightseeing flights over the city, 4x4 excursions, horse riding and fauna watching.
The Festival Internacional de Música Clásica de Ushuaia(Ushuaia Classical Music International Festival) takes place in April, with symphonic and chamber concerts (the Moscow Symphonic Orchestra performed there in 2009).The Bienal de Arte Contemporáneo del Fin del Mundo, a significant art show, is celebrated in Ushuaia in the fall.

The renewed international airport, only 7 minutes away from downtown, receives non-stop flights from Buenos Aires that last only 3 hours and 20 minutes, and from other destinations in Argentina.
