Buenos Aires is the largest province in the country and, due to the relevance of its economic activity; it has a great urban and service development in many levels. Its population accounts for almost 38% of the national total population.

Located to the center-east of the country, its landscapes feature big cities contrasting with ancient towns of immense historical value as well as the typical natural setting of the Wet Pampa. The plains, the hill ranges, the vast delta, the beaches and the diverse urban centers offer the most diverse options, with top quality services and comfort.

This is a region characterized by its strong agricultural and stock breeding activity, which positions the country as a top meat producer worldwide. Also, several grains, fruit, potatoes and vegetables are grown. In 1930 and onwards, the province experienced a marked industrial development, when new industrial facilities settled there. Cities like La Plata and its surroundings, Mar del Plata, Bahía Blanca (where the largest petrochemical hub of the country is located), San Nicolás and Zárate (both mainly focused on the iron and steel industry) became rapidly industrialized. The Mar del Plata and Necochea ports witnessed the impressive development of their fleets and fishing industry.

Currently, the province boasts the largest number of industrial plants in the country, accounting for 38.5% of Argentina’s GDP.

Another booming industry is tourism, due to the tourist, cultural, and ecotourist attractions the province offers and the diversity of destinations you can discover. It is worth mentioning the remarkable rural activities to be enjoyed in the province of Buenos Aires: stately ranches with delicious local cuisine, fine accommodation and venues suitable for different events.

LA PLATA
Founded in 1882, it is a masterpiece of modern 19^th Century urban planning. It is a great example of the “cleanliness” (nowadays, environmentalism) that was very important in those days, and it is the first city in the world built according to republican ideas. For this reason, the city of La Plata, capital city of the province of Buenos Aires, is known as the “City of Diagonals”.

SIGHTS
The city is famous for its Natural Science Museum and the impressive neogothical De La Inmaculada Concepción Cathedral. Worth visiting are the governmental buildings, as well as the Casa Curuchet, one of the only two architectural Works in America Guild by the Le Corbusier project (one of the founders of modern architecture), which was declared National Historical Monument.

República de los Niños (Children’s Republic) is considered the most significant enterprise for children in Latin America and it is the first theme park in America created with a double purpose: providing creative entertainment in a fairy tale and dream world, as well as learning about the rights and obligations of the citizens in a democracy.

EVENT VENUES
La Platahas a number of conference centers and theaters that are ideal to host international events, which have led the city to join the ICCA Ranking in 2010. The renaissance styled Teatro Argentino de La Plata has two meeting rooms (for 2,000 and 300 attendants, respectively) that can be used for several events. Also, the theater is surrounded by shaded outdoor areas. These areaways are below the street level so they can become a large dress circle for outdoor events.

Another theater in the city suitable for events is the Coliseo Podestá, which was built in 1886 and is shaped like a horseshoe, something typical of 19^th century Italian style. An audience of more than 1,000 people can enjoy events and shows in this cultural and architectonical gem.

Since 2001, the Palacio Municipal is a new exhibit facility. An interesting place for hosting events is the Palacio Campodónico, which is an example of a bourgeois home of the late 19^th Century, located close to the historical center of the city. This mansion is currently used as an art gallery, and it is also home to the Municipal Tourism Administration.

The Centro Cultural Pasaje Dardo Rocha has three fully equipped meeting rooms; the largest, for 350 people. In the first floor of the Pasaje you can find the Centro Cultural literary café, which is an ideal place for conferences, workshops, literary seminars, book presentations, and exhibits.

Additionally, the Centro Cultural Islas Malvinas includes three art rooms, a 300 seat auditorium, a small movie theatre for 100 people, and an interior courtyard ideal for art shows and outdoor conferences. In addition to its cultural services, this venue has an excellent restaurant, a classic film collection, and an Internet café.

The Hotel Corregidor (4 stars) is another option in La Plata to organize events, with capacity for 108 people, and 180 attendees in its largest meeting room.

Finally, the Ciudad de La Plata Stadium is one of the most modern and beautiful venues in Argentina, as well as the first roofed stadium in Latin America. Its infrastructure makes it perfect for international sport and cultural events, with 40,000 seats and 10 stands areas, which include preferential seats, ground-floor boxes, and press boxes.

HOW TO GET THERE
La Platais located only 56 km (34.80 mi) southeast of the City of Buenos Aires. You can get there in less than 1 hour if you take the Buenos Aires-La Plata highway by car or taxi.

From the Jorge Newbery Airport and the Ministro Pistarini International Airport (Ezeiza) you can get to the city through the public transport network.

You can also take the train – “C” circuit, General Roca Line (UGOFE) - from Buenos Aires.
