The province of Catamarca features a variety of contrasting landscapes: the peaks of the mountain range, the puna (high Andean plateau), high-altitude lakes populated by flamingos, the cloud forest in the east, rivers, ravines and high-altitude valleys. Its capital, San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca, is the youngest Spanish city in northwestern Argentina (1683). Nestled in a wide valley between stunning mountain ranges, its architecture combines a colonial flare with the influence of the 19^th Century Italian neoclassical period.

Located in the northwestern corner of Argentina, this city limits with Bolivia and Chile to the north and west respectively, and with Salta to the south and east. Jujuy is strategically located as it limits with two countries and it is part of the bioceanic corridor through the Paso de Jama crossing (the only Andean crossing available all year long). This is why it offers a setting for the integration and development of top-notch services for international events.

Jujuyfeatures different altitudes, ranging from 350 to 4,000 meters above sea level. Its unique topography and landscapes have earned it the metaphorical name of “Tacita de Plata” (Silver Cup). It shows snow-capped peaks 6,200 meters above sea level that shape a diversity of regions, among them, the Puna, the Valleys, the Yungas, declared Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, and the Humahuaca Ravine, declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO and the first Cultural Landscape of Humanity in South America.

It is the land of the gauchos and traditions deeply rooted to its cultural beliefs and geography:mounts with dense vegetation, valleys, stunning national parks, rivers full of fishes and spring waters.

This province features varied and rich ecosystems.At the Baritú, El Rey and Los Cardones parks, truly exponents of this northern region, you will be able to admire the flora and fauna of the tropical rainforest and the great variations in altitude that exceed 5,000 meters (16,404 ft) above sea level.

The fauna of this extensive protected area includes the Andean condor, that glides over the Andes range, toucans, yungueros, tangarás, woodpeckers and the slender-tailed woodstar (only seven centimeters high), as well as many others exotic species, which are a delight for bird enthusiasts. Animals such as rheas, camels, vicugnas, guanacos and several felids live in the Andean high plateau.Pink flamingos, ducks and dotterels, as well as tapirs, jaguars (yaguareté) and other endangered species abound in the lakes.

Saltainvites you to adventure, with its different landscapes and its vast and almost virgin lands.High mountains, lost valleys, abrupt ravines, dense rainforests, agitated rivers, wide lakes and far deserts are irresistible for those who enjoy sports and nature.

The wide range of activities include: ecotourism, fishing at Tunal and Río del Valle, and rural, health and religious tourism.Tourists can visit the estancias dedicated to stockbreeding and production of leguminous plants and forage crops, where horse rides and guided tours to dairy farms and other agricultural centers are organized.

Salta, the capital city of the province, was founded in 1582 and still reflects the Hispanic heritage that distinguishes it from the rest of the Argentine capitals. The historical city center is an ideal place to admire the architectural heritage. Travelers can enjoy the Paseo Peatonal at the main square, with cobblestone pavement dating from the colonial times.

The city features a natural balcony, the San Bernardo hill, with an amazing panoramic view. It can be accessed through a cable car or a picturesque path.

Although Tucumán is the smallest province of Argentina, with 22,524 km² (8,696.56 mi²), it offers a diversity of landscapes: plains and mountains, dry and humid weather, jungles and forests, big trees and rivers, modern cities and vestiges of its native inhabitants.

There are a lot of protected natural areas, as well as almost virgin jungles and woodlands. The main tourist attractions include: San Pedro de Colalao, La Cocha, Cerro San Javier, Ruins of the Quilmes Tribe, Pucara de la Ciudacita, Simoca (especially attractive due to its big fair), the lake coast Río Hondo, the Escaba dam, El Mollar, the Los Menhires park, the de los Sosa Ravine, Tafí del Valle, El Siambón, the snow-capped hill of the Aconquija, Colalao del Valle and Amaicha del Valle, among others.

San Miguel de Tucumán, to the north of the province, is the provincial capital and one of the oldest cities of the country.
