Valdés Peninsula
On the Patagonia coastline there are many natural reservations protecting diverse species of marine fauna, though none of them can offer such a spectacular concentration of animals as the Valdés Peninsula.
At 1.400 kms to the south of Buenos Aires, this peninsula gets into the sea forming two gulfs of protected waters, place of encounter of the southern right whales, for their reproductive cycles, between the months of June and December.
Puerto Pirámides is the boarding point of many tours for marine fauna watching. The Peninsula also hosts plentiful colonies of sea lions sharing habitat with birds, ñandúes (American ostriches), maras (patagonian rabbits) and guanacos.
The Northern point of the peninsula is the greatest place in the world with sea wolf colonies.

Estancia Santa Catalina
Founded in 1622, is the biggest. Its church is one of the best examples of the "Colonial Baroque" style in Argentina, with a marked influence of the central-European Baroque architecture. The estancia was the most important center of cattle breeding (with thousands head of cattle, sheep and mules). There were also workshops with looms and harnesses, a smithy, a carpentry, a batán (container to work the wool before spinning), two mills and a big tajamar.
